Cardinal Rule, a UofL a cappella group, was formed in January 2014. The group has performed songs from many genres and recording artists, using different arrangements created by both professionals and students. A performance schedule is available online.

The research of Manju K. Ahuja, PhD, professor, Computer Information Systems in the College of Business, is featured in “Information Systems Research,” addressing the need to distinguish between gender and race diversity in decision making. The results from this study show that text-based communication can be helpful to racially diverse teams but actually be counterproductive for gender diverse teams.

College of Education and Human Development: Spring Research Conference 2018
The Spring Research Conference is open to College of Education and Human Development master and doctoral students enrolled at UofL, UK and UC. This opportunity allows students to present research in a friendly setting and to get constructive feedback from faculty and colleagues. Biology Dept. Seminar Series presents Dr. Silvia Newell, Dept. of Earth & Environmental Sciences, Wright State University

Newell will present, “Nitrogen cycling in eutrophic systems as a driver of harmful algal blooms.” Cyanobacterial harmful algal blooms (HABs) in many major lakes (i.e., Lake Taihu and western Lake Erie) are driven largely by agricultural nitrogen (N) and phosphorus. Cyanobacterial community dominance and HAB development may depend on ammonium (NH4+) availability, and increased NH4+ has been linked to increased toxin production. Microcystis, the dominant toxic cyanobacterial genus in both lakes, cannot fix atmospheric N2; consequently, it must compete for NH4+ with other primary producers. Understanding the factors that govern N cycling and NH4+ availability is therefore crucial for identifying conditions that stimulate and maintain HABs.

The Partnership for a Green City has a sustainability literacy survey available on line through Survey Monkey. Take the survey when you have time – it should not take more than 15 minutes – and help us determine the issues we need to address in the partners – Jefferson County Public Schools, Jefferson Community & Technical College, Louisville Metro Government and the University of Louisville, as well as in the community. Family and Geriatric Medicine Grand Rounds
