DID YOU KNOW
A volunteer, student-run radio station using the call letters WLCV (Louisville Campus Radio) began in Stevenson Hall in 1968. It never had a broadcast range that went beyond campus. The station had several homes until it closed in 2013.

A new book dedicated to Jacek M. Zurada, PhD, J.B. Speed School of Engineering professor of electrical and computer engineering, includes a comprehensive introduction listing his accomplishments. “Advances in Data Analysis and Systems Modeling with Computational Intelligence Methods” (Springer International Publishing, 2018) was co-edited by former students and co-workers who assembled the book “to present these select topical papers in our research field as a token of appreciation for his efforts that have benefitted so many of us.”

Master of Public Health prospective student information sessions

Summer research opportunity for students – apply before Feb. 1
Students interested in pursuing a career in cancer research and/or treatment are encouraged to apply for the 2018 Cancer Education Program. This year’s program is scheduled from May 29 through August 3 for undergraduate students and May 21 through July 27 for medical students. Each student will be given $4,000 for their participation in this program ($4,300 for medical/dental students). For more information, visit online, program brochure and video. Meet the Professor presents Anna Browne Ribeiro, Professor of Anthropology, who will take us on a journey across thousands of years and billions of acres to show how humans have made this great mosaic landscape. Amazonia is generally thought of as a primeval forest – one of the last remaining pristine landscapes on Earth. However, archaeologists have found increasingly diverse evidence for long-term manipulation of plant species and entire landscapes by Amerindian peoples.
