DID YOU KNOW
Since 2012, UofL Global Health Center has administered more than 50,000 vaccines to 15,000 refugees in our community. Providing disease preventative vaccines reduces the risk of local disease outbreaks, improves health and expedites school entry. UofL’s offsite vaccine immunization clinics offer a non-traditional setting for nursing, pharmacy and public health faculty and students to experience a cultural, educational and collaborative experience while reducing the risk of disease in our community.
FACULTY AND STAFF NOTABLES
UofL assistant economics professor Weihua Zhao participated in an American Economic Association poster session at its 2018 annual meeting in January and made a video about her research into self-driving cars and cities. In this video, she discusses the economic effects of self-driving cars on land use, urban density and energy consumption in cities. One effect, for example, could be that self-driving cars will lead to fewer privately owned vehicles, which will free up land now being used for parking.
