The Student Government Association 2018 general election results are in. Newly elected officers will be installed at the SGA Banquet in late April and will formally start their terms at the end of the spring semester. Jonathan Fuller has been elected as student body president, while Mariana Juarez is executive vice president. Full results are available online.
FACULTY AND STAFF NOTABLES
Heather Fox, with Archives and Special Collections, has been selected to be part of the 2018 Archives Leadership Institute, a program for professionals within the archival field. Funded by the National Historical Publications and Records Commission and hosted at Berea College, ALI provides advanced training for 25 archival leaders each year, giving them the knowledge and tools to transform the profession in practice, theory and attitude.

Louisville Water Company will be making new connections, by Ernst Hall, the weekend of March 10-11
- Notification of water outage: Saturday (March 10) at 7 a.m. until approimately 4 p.m., water will be out of service. Buildings include Ernst, WS Speed, Phoenix House, Duthie, JB Speed, Sacket and Henry Vogt. (Fire service at Natural Science.) Water services will be restored as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience. Upon completion of this work, a 18 hour ‘water sampling test’ will put these buildings under a ‘boil water advisory’ for drinking water.
- Notification of Boil Water advisory: A ‘boil water advisory’ will be in effect Saturday evening through most of Sunday for the 18-hour sampling tests. The purity of the water sample must pass before the boil water is lifted. (This may run into Monday, but we are not expecting this to happen). This boil water advisory does not affect toilets and hand washing sinks, only drinking water. Bottled drinking water will be provided at select locations in Lobbies. Additional updates will occur as needed.

Campus Store hours during spring break
March 11 through March 18
The University Campus Store will reduce operating hours during Spring Break. The store will be closed on Sunday, March 11, and Saturday, March 17 and Sunday, March 18. It will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16.

No Cost Memberships for students and faculty to the Kentucky Academy of Science
UofL is an Enhanced Affiliate member of the KAS. Faculty and students interested in science are encouraged to take advantage of free memberships, which provide news, announcements, job and research opportunities from KAS; are eligible to apply for grants and publish in the Journal of the KAS; search their database and connect with 3,000 fellow scientists across Kentucky. Applications for HSC Health and Social Justice Scholars due March 31
This initiative provides a unique opportunity of educating professional and doctoral students in an interprofessional manner to produce high quality scholarly activities related to health equity, health disparities, social justice, and healthcare innovation with the goal of benefitting underserved and disadvantaged populations. Each scholar will receive a $5,000 stipend for the 2018 -2019 academic year in addition to mentoring, research opportunities, and professional development.

Political Art and Activism: Making America Great Again

As part of the exhibition “For Freedoms: Make America Great Again,” the University of Louisville’s Hite Art Institute and Cooperative Consortium for Transdisciplinary Social Justice present a panel discussion exploring the role, place, and power of public political art. Panelists will discuss their opinions towards the intention/influence/impact of public art and provide insight on how public politicized art can be a used as a catalyst for social change. Panelists include Brianna Harlan, an artist from Louisville; Dr. Annette Harris Powell, professor at Bellarmine University; and Dr. DeBraun Thomas, Organizer Apprentice at Kentuckians for the Commonwealth. The event will be moderated by John Chenault, Professor in the Kornhauser Library and faculty in the Pan-African Studies Department.

The Kentucky Cancer Program (KCP) and Get Healthy Now have teamed up to offer FREE breast cancer screenings. The KCP mammogram bus will be parked just outside of the GHN Wellness Center for ease of access for Belknap and HSC employees. Research of our campus community indicates that over 50 percent of women age 40 and older do not complete this potentially lifesaving screening. Medicine Grand Rounds features W. Neal Roberts, MD, FACP, FACR, Professor of Medicine and Chief, Division of Rheumatology at UofL. Dr. Roberts will present “Treat-to-Target Guidelines in Gout and Rheumatoid Arthritis” focusing on distinguishing a validated clinical practice guideline from imposters and mimics, making occasional urate lowering decisions independent of current guidelines when indicated, and debates about drug pricing and QALY’s when these are expressed in guidelines.
