The UofL Department of Theatre Arts’ African American Theatre Program is commemorating the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s assassination and Malcolm X’s birthday with a free production of the play “The Meeting,” written by Jeff Stetson and directed by Baron Kelly, at 3 p.m., Saturday, May 19, in the Playhouse Theatre, 1911 S. 3rd Street.

Monday, May 14: As a freshman, Chinnell Williams struggled with finances and being away from her family. Just as she found her place on UofL’s campus, her debate team partner and best friend was gunned down at a Louisville concert. But Chinnell powered through to graduation day with a lot of mixed emotions but a bright future.

Geraldine Richmond is one of the United States’ best known chemistry professors and a member of the National Science Board. She was at UofL for several talks on Derby weekend.

The UofL community is invited to welcome Dr. Neeli Bendapudi on her first day as UofL’s new president. She will arrive at Grawemeyer Hall around 8 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, and will offer a few remarks to the crowd. Faculty, staff and students are asked to arrive a few minutes early to greet her upon her arrival. #WeAreUofL tshirts will be available while supplies last. UofL community invited to public forum for Chief of Police finalists
UofL has brought in three finalists for the Chief of Police search and has hosted public forums for each candidate. The UofL community is welcome to attend the last one:

The candidate will provide an overview of his leadership philosophy, vision, as well as best practices/trends/issues. The presentation is expected to last about 30 minutes with 30 minutes allotted for Q/A.
Register for the Family and Friends Campus Visit

This Campus Visit Program will be reserved for students who are children of UofL Faculty and Staff members. The information session will be lead by Jenny Sawyer, Executive Director of Admissions, and will be geared to the unique situation of being a UofL dependent. Email Phishing Reminder
Phishing emails designed to trick recipients into giving up their log in credentials or infecting their machines are on the rise. User awareness is a key component to reducing this threat. Over the next several months, Information Technology and the Information Security Office will be partnering to conduct a university-wide phish training campaign. Will you be able to ‘catch the phish’?

Study recruiting women who have not used hormonal contraceptives in three months

Involves one or two visits to the lab (2 hours total) and 30 minutes of home procedures. Eligibility: women with a regular menstrual cycle. Ineligibility: diagnosed with a psychological disorder, history of psychological or psychiatric treatment, pregnant or breastfeeding in the last three months, had a serious car accident, had a loved one in a serious car accident (potential serious injury or death). Walk-In Hours for Human Resources
Starting Monday, May 14, visitors to the Human Resources office, at 1980 Arthur Street, will notice a slight change to walk-in hours. After May 14, walk-ins and calls to our main line, are welcome anytime from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. For other times, visitors are encouraged to contact an HR representative directly to set up an appointment. The intent of this slight change is to continue to meet the needs of customers, as well as reallocating resources as efficiently as possible. Campus invited to May 14 reception honoring Postel
The campus community is invited to join in thanking Dr. Greg Postel for his 16-month tenure as interim university president at a public reception Monday, May 14, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Grawemeyer Hall rotunda. Faculty, staff and students are invited to the event, which is being hosted by the Office of the Provost. Parking for HSC and Shelby Campus employees is available in the Speed School blue lot. Postel will serve as executive vice president for health affairs, a position he has held on an interim basis since 2015, beginning Monday.
