The project, titled “Big Data in Acute Renal Rejection,” is designed to minimize not only the efficiency, but the cost of determining the viability of a transplant by integrating MRI image analyses with clinical biomarkers. The collaboration is with the University of Michigan and the University of Mansoura in Egypt.

    Sustainability

Green Tip: Travel smart, fly less

Summer travel season is here, but there are ways to get there without destroying our planet. Flying causes 5-10 times more pollution per passenger-mile than ground-based options. It now accounts for 10% of UofL’s total carbon footprint. Consider greener, less sardine-like options: video- or teleconference; carpool; or take the train or bus (Megabus, Miller and Greyhound all serve Louisville). If you must fly, offset your emissions through a service such as Native Energy, CarbonFund, or TerraPass. Set up carpools with Cardinal Directions online. Details on alternatives to flying and carbon offsetting are available online.
