DID YOU KNOW
UofL Senior Natalie Brown of Crestwood, Kentucky, was named the 2017 Kentucky Derby Festival Queen last week during the annual Fillies Derby Ball. Brown is a Communications major, Trustees Scholar and Honors Scholar and serves on the Student Orientation Staff and as a Cardinal Ambassador. She is also co-host of The L Show and volunteers for Heuser Hearing Institute with Delta Zeta Sorority.
FACULTY AND STAFF NOTABLES
Daniella Terson de Paleville, assistant professor in the Department of Health and Sport Sciences, and Jason Immekus, associate professor in the Department of Educational Leadership, Evaluation and Organizational Development, work with a team of UofL students, four undergraduates and four graduates, at Hawthorne Elementary, a Spanish Immersion school. The goal of this ongoing project is to explain the link between physical activity, academic skills and classroom behavior in children 5 to 10 years old.

Electrical shutdowns scheduled Saturday on Belknap
The second of three planned electrical shutdowns is scheduled for this coming Saturday, April 15 and will impact some buildings on Belknap Campus. Facilities Management is working to replace underground cables and equipment. From 6-7 a.m., the Thrust Theatre, Ralph Wright Natatorium, Floyd Street Parking Garage, Department of Public Safety, and Commonwealth Credit Union will be without regular power. From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., the Chemistry Building, Lutz Hall, Houchens Building and the Service Complex will be without regular power. ULPD is aware of all buildings impacted. Physical Plant will have staff on duty during the shutdown to address any problems experienced. While no impact is anticipated for the rest of campus, everyone on Belknap should exercise caution to protect all electrical assets.

The Delphi Center for Teaching and Learning announces an online course to prepare instructors to teach online-Delphi U Online. The summer offering will launch June 12 and conclude August 6. Participants will learn two primary concepts: What it is like to be an online learner and how to effectively teach online. Spring brings many unwanted animals into shelters & rescues. Many of these animals die needless because there are not enough resources.
