DID YOU KNOW?
UofL is announcing today the largest philanthropic gift in the history of the School of Dentistry, a multi-million dollar donation from Dr. and Mrs. Wayne Mortenson. The dental school welcomed its 120 new dental students and 30 third-year dental hygiene students at a White Coat Ceremony last week that marked their passage into the profession. There are more than 600 students enrolled in the dental school. Check out the ceremony photos here.

1.) It’s Your Planet-Love It Girl Scout workshops at planetarium
Sept. 13, 10 a.m. to noon, planetarium
$12 troop/$3 adult for UofL affiliates
The planetarium offers workshops designed to support the “It’s Your Planet – Love It” Journey series. In September, we have “Between Earth and Sky” for Daisies (9/13) and “WOW! Wonders of Water” for Brownies (9/20). Don’t worry if you have a Junior or Cadette—they will have their turn in October. And, best of all, UofL affiliates get a special rate of $12/troop and $3/adult (normally $15/$5). Details and registration are on our website. Space is limited so sign up now!

2.) Racing to Saves Lives: The Aortic Center
September 5, 4 to 6 p.m., Churchill Downs Aristides Room
Free (includes CME, dinner and night racing)
Join us as CME and PD along with KentuckyOneHealth introduce the new Aortic Center at Jewish Hospital. The program will discuss AAAs as a potential surgical emergency, Type B aortic emergencies and the surgical treatment options, as well why a comprehensive center is necessary to streamline the treatment of these patients through the use of “Code Aorta.”
