1.) Blackboard to be offline during scheduled upgrade and IT maintenance
Blackboard will be unavailable Dec. 18-21 for an annual software upgrade. New features will be available after the upgrade, including new calendar options and Content Editor improvements. Blackboard will also be offline during the mandatory IT maintenance Dec. 28-29.

2.) GHN Wellness Center closed for Christmas and New Year’s Holidays
The GHN Wellness Center will close early on Thursday, Dec. 24 (at 2 p.m.) and will be closed on Friday, Dec. 25. Please refer to the GHN Holiday Schedule for modified holiday hours of operation. The GHN Wellness Center will be closed on Thursday, Dec. 31 and Friday, Jan. 1 in observance of New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Normal hours of operation will resume on Saturday, Jan. 2. Don’t forget: UofL employees can enjoy access to the YMCA over the holiday break, too. View flyer.

3.) Get Healthy Now inclement weather policy
Keeping our members and employees safe is of utmost importance to Get Healthy Now. During the course of the year, the University of Louisville may decide to close campus or operate on a delayed schedule in cases of inclement weather. When the University of Louisville offices are closed, the Get Healthy Now Wellness Center will be closed as well. Regular hours of operation will begin when the closure is lifted.

6.) Correction: Mail Services holiday schedule
Mail Services’ holiday schedule is now available. December 21 is the last day for permit mailings. December 23 is the last day for UPS Ground. We are open Dec 29 – 31 at our Belknap Campus location from 9 to 10 for picking up mail. Please see the news item on Mail Services’ webpage for more details.

7.) Nominations sought for Optimal Aging Award
Deadline Feb. 1
The Institute for Sustainable Health & Optimal Aging at the University of Louisville is seeking nominations for the 2016 Gold Standard for Optimal Aging Award. This award celebrates and honors older adults who embody the Institute’s vision for a world where all older adults lead engaged and flourishing lives. Nominations are open now through Feb. 1, 2016. 8.) Family & Friends Campus Visit program on Feb. 5

Do you have a son or daughter in high school? The Office of Admissions is hosting a special Campus Visit for the dependents of UofL faculty and staff. The Family & Friends Campus Visit will include a 45 minute information session with the Executive Director of Admissions and a 90 minute walking tour of Belknap campus. 9.) From the Radiation Safety Office: Users of radioactive material holiday ordering schedule
Last day to order Radioactive Isotopes will be Monday, Dec. 21 for delivery on Tuesday, Dec. 22 or Wednesday, Dec. 23. With the university holiday schedule, we do not want to have any radioactive material trying to be delivered during closed hours. We will resume ordering on Monday, Jan. 4.

Medicine Grand Rounds features Frank C. Brosius III, M.D., Professor of Internal Medicine and Physiology and Chief, Division of Nephrology at the University of Michigan Medical School. Dr. Brosius will present Finding Treatments for Diabetic Kidney Disease focusing on recent findings about the effect of kidney disease on outcomes in diabetic patients, three stumbling blocks for the development of new treatments, and chronic inflammation pathways that drive diabetic kidney disease.
