DID YOU KNOW

Marsha Linehan, a psychology professor at the University of Washington, developed Dialectical Behavior Therapy, which balances acceptance and commitment to change in treating mental illness, distinguishing it from previous standard interventions. Research shows DBT to be an effective treatment for conditions previously considered untreatable, such as borderline personality disorder. Linehan’s work has earned her the 2017 Grawemeyer Award for Psychology.

New Air Force ROTC 1-year program for May 2018 grads

Do you know a student that has interest in the Air Force? The AF is offering a 1-year commissioning program to Spring ’18. The ROTC program prepares cadets for leadership roles and upon completion, commissions them as 2nd Lieutenants. Students will need to take 2 AS classes Fall ‘17/Spring ‘18 terms. We can come discuss with you or your students.

How do you plan to stay healthy and happy over the holidays? The YMCAs of Greater Louisville, including branches in Southern Indiana, invite all UofL employees to work out for free during the winter break. To take advantage of this opportunity, all you need is a current UofL employee I.D. Should your spouse, immediate family member or out-of-town guest join you, there will be a $5 per-person per-day fee with picture I.D.
