    5.) Annual Kentucky Women’s Book Festival marks 10 years

    The Kentucky Women’s Book Festival is celebrating its 10th year anniversary with author presentations, book signings and opportunities to mingle with book lovers and some of Kentucky’s women authors. The luncheon speaker will be Tania James, New York Times Editor’s Choice award-winner. A wine and cheese reception will follow starting at 4 p.m. at the University Club. Volunteers are requested.     8.) Women Veteran Lunch & Learn Workshop next week

    While women in the U.S. Armed Forces share a history of discrimination based on gender, black women have faced both race and gender discrimination. Initially barred from official military status, black women persistently pursued their right to serve. Join us at the Tribute to African American Women Veterans at the Women Veteran Lunch N’ Learn Workshop Series with speakers Col. Pamela Stevenson and Captain Najuana Robinson as they discuss their experiences of serving in the armed forces. The monthly Women Veteran Lunch N’ Learn Workshop series is in the interest of women veterans, active duty, National Guard, reservists, military families and widows.     11.) Campus Cardinal Debate: The Rule of Law allows attendees to join rebuttals

    What’s at stake when we follow the letter of the law or decide to challenge it? The Malcolm X Debate Program and First Year Initiatives invite you to a fun and fast-moving experience in critical political analysis and rhetorical response. The debate topic will be “The Rule of Law” from This I Believe, and attendees can join in with one minute rebuttals following the position speeches by each debater.

    12.) School of Medicine calling for summer research projects

    Summer research projects are now being solicited from faculty to submit a biomedical summer research project for our medical students. The student’s stipend support and poster production costs are covered by the School of Medicine’s Summer Research Scholar Program (SRSP) and NIH training grants. Submit a project online.

    13.) Children 8 to 13 years needed for anxiety and worry study

    Are you stressed? Is your child stressed, anxious, or worried? We can help! The UofL Developmental Psychopathology Lab is conducting a study examining the nature of worry and anxiety in parents and children. Parents and their children between the ages of 8 and 13 years are eligible to participate. Participants will be compensated $20 for their time and receive free diagnostic interviews, detailed feedback and a report outlining the results of our assessment.

    15.) March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month: How will YOU Do BLUE?

    March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month and Friday, March 4th is national Dress in Blue Day. The Kentucky Cancer Program at UofL is hosting a Facebook Photo Contest and we want to see how YOU do BLUE! Take a fun and creative photo showcasing yourself, your co-workers/department, your pet, or your office, etc. in blue and submit it for our contest and you could win $250. The deadline to enter the contest is March 28. Sport your blue for colon cancer awareness and tell people why.

Arsenic is a worldwide natural contaminant of drinking water.
