The Prevention, Education, and Advocacy on Campus and in the Community (PEACC) Program was created in October 1999 after UofL was awarded a grant from the Department of Justice, Violence Against Women on Campus Program “to support the creation of a proactive, comprehensive program” to address violence against women issues.

The Action Learning, Action Research Association Inc. (ALARA) will host its 10th Action Learning Action Research and 14th Participatory Action Research World Congress on the Norwich University campus in Vermont in June. UofL’s Dr. Mary Brydon-Miller will serve as keynote speaker for the track, “Action Learning, Action Research for Communities’ Developments.” Brydon-Miller is a professor in the Department of Educational Leadership, Evaluation and Organizational Development.

Lab Safety and Hazardous Waste Training/Radiation Training
February 8, 9-11:15 a.m., Room 2034, K-wing (Nursing School), HSC
New lab employees who work with chemicals should attend this training. Recurrent training is required every three years and may be completed online. Individuals who work with or around radioactive materials should attend the Radiation Safety Orientation session, which begins at 10:30 a.m. Bring laptop computer. Attendees can pre-register online.

Time and place that works for you; free for employees, spouses and QAs
Partner with a Get Healthy Now wellness coach intern, to make lasting changes that align with your why. Our coaches see each client as whole, resourceful and creative and realize that each client is an expert on his or her life. You will meet with the coach in person for one hour a week for eight weeks. Our interns have successfully completed a semester of intensive coach training and are closely supervised by a certified coach. Studies
Louisville Healthy Heart Study

Andrew DeFilippis, MD, of Cardiovascular Medicine, is conducting a research study to evaluate the effect of environmental exposures on cardiovascular disease risk. Participation requires two 60-minute visits to complete a questionnaire, have an EKG, and give blood and urine samples. Subjects receive a $50 gift card for each visit. To participate you must be over 18 years old, non-pregnant, and reside in or near Jefferson County, KY. We currently need e-cigarette smokers. IRB#09.0174.
