    1.) Radio Show

    Airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 6 p.m. on 93.9 FM The Ville; replayed on Saturday and Sunday at 8 a.m.

    UofL’s Mark Hebert hosts two weekly 30-minute programs focusing on research and insights from expert UofL faculty, as well as stories about our successful students, and staff and campus events. This week’s schedule:

    ·       Monday, Jan. 4 – CEHD faculty members Brad Shuck, Kevin Rose and Matt Bergman discuss their research on horrible or dysfunctional bosses; archaeologist Phil DiBlasi discusses his work on Eastern Cemetery and trying to find loved ones for mishandled bodies.

    ·       Tuesday, Jan. 5 – Adrian Lauf and Roman Yampolskiy from Speed School of Engineering talk about cybersecurity and keeping your personal information safe.

    8.) SRC Memberships available for faculty and staff

    Student Recreation Center

    $22 per month

    Make your plans for a healthy new year now. Faculty/staff memberships to the Student Recreation Center are only $22 per month and are available in blocks of 3,6,9 or 12 months at a time. Membership includes free access to all group fitness classes. The SRC features over 125 treadmills, elipticals, bikes and rowers, weights, racquetball, squash, basketball, golf and more.

    9.) End of calendar year gift processing notice

    The end of December is a popular time for individuals to send in their annual gifts/donations to support the university. We understand that many individuals take time off during December and January so we ask if your department receives gifts from donors, please be sure to deliver them to Advancement Services as soon as possible. Additionally, it is extremely important that the envelope with the postmark date on it be forwarded to us along with the check and any additional back-up notes and/or letters to ensure accurate tax year receipting is provided to the donor. As a reminder, checks should not be placed in campus mail to our office. They should be hand delivered to our office in Cardinal Station or to the development office on Belknap or HSC campus with an accompanying log.  Feel free to contact Judy Singleton should you have any questions or concerns.

    Stressed after the holidays? Come and learn more about “Alternative Healing and Personal Health” at the Women Veteran Lunch ‘N Learn Workshop. The monthly workshop, held in conjunction with Athena Sisters, is in the interest of women veterans, active duty, National Guard, reservists, military families and widows.

    Want to get started with EndNote, the citation management software program freely available to all UofL faculty, staff, and students? Come to the workshop on Wednesday, Jan. 20, where we will cover downloading the program, importing citations, working with MS Word, and syncing with EndNoteWeb.     13.) Funding Opportunity: UofL-NSF I-Corps Site

    Jan. 22

    Do customers need your innovation? Let the UofL-NSF I-Corps Site program help with the discovery and commercialization of STEM innovations. Inventors and researchers partner with entrepreneurial mentors to develop a strategy to get innovative products to market. Awards are up to $2,500 per team. The program is open to all UofL faculty, staff, students and alumni. Applications are due by January 22.
