    Did You Know?

    The UofL community has caught Pokémon fever, with several spots around campus offering beacons as part of Nintendo’s new Pokémon Go mobile game. To play, users download the app and use their mobile phones to find and “catch” different types of virtual Pokémon characters. Hot spots on campus include the Ekstrom Library, the SAC bridge, behind Grawemeyer Hall, and in front of the Brandeis School of Law. Photos of users playing around campus can be found on UofL’s Facebook page

    1.) UofL School of Medicine hosting LGBTQ Health Summit

    Sept. 12, 8:30 a.m. -4 p.m., UofL School of Medicine

    Keynote Speaker: Jennifer Potter, MD, Associate Professor of Medicine, Advisory Dean & Director of the Castle Society at Harvard Medical School, Director of Women’s Health Research at the Fenway Institute. There are multiple opportunities for medical educators and community clinicians. Dr. Potter will be facilitating the first three sessions. CME Credit Offered, RSVP required for lunch.     3.) Streets near Belknap to close July 23 for 5K run

    July 23, 6:30-10 p.m.

    Some streets near Belknap Campus will be closed, or have their traffic diverted, from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, July 23 for the 2015 Lunar 5K run. Some adjacent streets also will be affected by this event. Streets affected include Floyd Street from Central Avenue to Cardinal Boulevard; Cardinal from Floyd to Third Street; Third from Cardinal to Eastern Parkway; and Eastern from Third to Crittenden Drive.

     

    4.) Scholarship opportunity available for UofL student parents

    UofL student parents currently enrolled in the College of Arts & Sciences can apply for the Ann T. Allen Scholarship. The deadline to apply has been extended to July 15 for the fall semester.

    5.) Cards Under the Stars to conclude with ‘Inside Out’

    July 22, 6:30 p.m., on the lawn between the Natural Sciences Building and Grawemeyer Hall, movie begins at dusk; Free admission

    Cards Under the Stars featuring “Inside Out” is Friday, July 22. Bring a blanket, lawn chairs and a cooler or purchase concessions onsite food trucks 502 Café and SnoWhat Snoballs. Activities include inflatables, crafts, and appearance by the Louisville League of Mascots. Cards under the Stars is sponsored by Commonwealth Credit Union.

    6.) ShelbyHurst Summer Bash planned for July 28

    July 28, 4-8 p.m., ShelbyHurst Campus – 9001 Shelbyville Rd.; Free

    Have a blast with us at the ShelbyHurst Summer Bash, a celebration of community from University of Louisville Event and Conference Services. Admission is free. It will include food trucks, giveaways, and a variety of activities including a henna tattoo artist, face painting, cornhole, and more.

Wald, PhD, Clinical Associate Professor of Family Medicine, Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University will present, “Fostering Reflective Capacity With Interactive Reflective Writing: ‘Reflection Apprenticeship’ Learner and Teacher. The workshop will use a combination of didactic and interactive learning to explore the concept of fostering reflection in health care professions education and practice. Sponsored by the Undergraduate Medical Education Office. Lunch will be served.
