Did You Know?
A Louisville patient is the first to be enrolled in a national clinical trial to test a new treatment for those who have suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm. The trial, based at UofL under principal investigator Robert F. James, MD, associate professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at UofL, will include eight other medical centers in the United States.

1.) City Café closing pushed back
The City Café location at the Health Sciences Center, scheduled to close by July 1, will remain open a little longer. UofL and City Café have agreed to a contract that will keep the restaurant open until July 31 or until construction begins on Au Bon Pain Bakery and Café in that same space. The university is awaiting issuance of a construction permit. Once the permit is obtained, the university will provide five days’ notice to City Café, which will then close. Au Bon Pain is expected to be open for business in early Fall 2016.
2.) UofL, American Red Cross hosting blood drive on campus this Wednesday
July 20, 1-6 p.m., George J. Howe Red Barn
In response to the Orlando tragedy last month, UofL, in conjunction with the American Red Cross, will host a blood drive July 20. Interested donors should register in advance and schedule their appointment time at redcrossblood.org and enter sponsor code “UOFLPRIDE.” The blood drive is cosponsored by UofL Campus Housing, The UofL LGBT Center and The Bellamy, an affiliated housing complex. UofL employees who wish to make blood donations during the work day may use community service leave time.

In this intensive, half-day workshop requested by YOU, we’ll cover career basics from top to bottom. Beginning with an overview of the job market and various career paths for graduate students, you’ll spend time reflecting on your PLAN for a successful job search.
