Some items available today will include: Corn, peaches, okra, green beans, squash, tomatoes, onions, tomato pies, bitter melon, cucumbers, fresh cut flowers, chicken, beef, pork, kettle corn, whole-grain bread, baked goods, local honey, maple syrup, homemade lotions and soaps. Lunch trucks: Boss Hog’s BBQ and Pollo (chicken). Live music by Wolf Holler, a local artist and one-man band who plays folk blues.

Thursdays through Oct. 15, rain or shine, 3:30 to 6 p.m., 3rd and Brandeis next to the Ville Grill.
Some items available today will include: Fruits and veggies, homemade breads, lamb, chicken, eggs, pork. Also, toxin-free home and personal-use products. DuPont Manual student Ryan DeLaney will be collecting new and used children’s books today (or cash donations to purchase books) at the market to benefit Cochran Elementary School. In exchange, Ryan will give juggling lessons!

3.) Tonight: UofL Night at Shakespeare in the Park
July 23, 7 p.m., Central Park, 1340 S. 4th Street
Free and open to the public
Alumni and friends are invited to join the UofL Alumni Association, the College of Arts and Sciences, and Kentucky Shakespeare for UofL Night at Shakespeare in the Park. UofL professor emerita Rinda Frye will speak about Shakespeare’s Magical Metaphysical Theatre at 7:15 p.m. followed by Kentucky Shakespeare’s The Tempest at 8 p.m. Dessert trucks and a cash bar will be on site. Wear red to the event and be entered into giveaways throughout the night.

4.) Cards Under the Stars: ‘Cinderella’
July 24, 6:30 p.m., on the lawn between the Natural Sciences Building and Grawemeyer Hall, movie begins at dusk
Free admission
Grab a blanket, lawn chairs and a cooler and bring the family for a screening of the 2015 film “Cinderella.” Let the kids enjoy our inflatable park and games, a meet and greet area with Cinderella and other activities. Bring a picnic or purchase concessions from Sweet ‘N Savory and Boss Hog’s BBQ. Also, watch soon for an announcement for a rescheduled screening of “Big Hero 6.”

10.) Green Tip: Weave sustainability into your fall courses
As you finalize fall syllabi, the Sustainability Council encourages faculty from all disciplines to integrate themes of environmental, social and economic stewardship into your courses, research, and service learning projects. To help get you started, we have class discussion guides, online learning resources to go deeper, info on grants, community groups and campus sustainability efforts that need your help, and engaging events throughout the year like UofL Sustainability Week, October 19-25.
11.) Autism Spectrum Disorders: What the Primary Care Physician Needs to Know
July 24, 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., Bottigheimer Auditorium
Patricia Gail Williams, MD, professor of pediatrics, UofL Weisskopf Child Evaluation Center, will discuss recent DSM-5 changes in the diagnosis of autism spectrum disorders. She will explain how to recognize the early signs of autism spectrum disorders. She will provide treatment options and provide local resources for autism spectrum disorders.

This Friday, please join us for a pediatric grand rounds featuring Heather Felton, MD. Felton is assistant professor of pediatrics at UofL and the assistant medical director of the UofL Pediatrics Kosair Charities. She will be presenting “Safety and Anticipatory Guidance.” After the presentation, attendees should be able to counsel families on the latest car seat recommendations, ways to prevent drowning, and safe sleep practices for infants.
