DID YOU KNOW?
It’s widely known that former Associate Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis and his wife, Alice, are buried in front of the law school that bears his name. It’s common practice for law students to place coins or graham crackers – Justice Brandeis’ favorite snack – on their graves for good luck. Right now, their resting place is covered in coins as law students study feverishly for the upcoming bar exam.

In addition to fresh veggies, fresh fruits and baked goods, also available this week will be jewelry by visiting vendor Jennie DiBeneditto of Gadabout Jewelry. Jennie is a UofL alumna who uses fine silver and copper metal clays to create jewelry with highly textured surfaces paired with sterling silver findings that are the perfect representation of simple elegance. Metal clay is a unique material made of finely ground metal powders, an organic cellulose-based binding agent and water. When mixed together, they create clay that can be sculpted, carved, attached and refined without traditional metal-smithing techniques. Once the piece has been fired to around 1650 degrees and the binder burns off, you are left with pure metal.
