    From 1947 to 1969, UofL’s music school was housed in a 20-room mansion called Gardencourt located on 14 acres near Cherokee Park and donated by the Norton family. Gardencourt is now owned by the Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary.

    1.) Tonight’s Cards Under the Stars: ‘Big Hero 6’ rescheduled to Friday, July 10

    Cards Under the Stars, which was originally scheduled for tonight is being rescheduled for 6:30 p.m. July 10 due to expected rain. Check events.louisville.edu for details including activities, entertainment, concessions and more. And don’t forget, Cards Under the Stars concludes July 24 with the 2015 live-action film “Cinderella.”

    2.) Get fit with GHN’s R.I.P.P.E.D

    Mondays, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., Get Healthy Now Wellness Center at Humana Gym

    Free for UofL employees, retirees and their spouses/QAs

    Get in shape with GHN’s R.I.P.P.E.D. group fitness class. This class is specifically designed to make you work hard and get you heated—in a good way. This high intensity class that uses a combination of free weight, body weight and resistance training will make you sweat. Summertime is the best time to “Get R.I.P.P.E.D” and ready for fun in the sun!

    4.) Webinar tells what NIH reviewers want to see in an effective data management plan

    June 30, 2 to 3 p.m., Henry Vogt Building, Room 314

    Free

    During this insightful webinar, you will learn what counts as data and understand the agencies’ expectations and requirements for the data management plan. Your expert presenter will cover how to think about managing your data before you begin your proposed research to insure usability, long-run preservation and access. You will get the guidelines on funding the plan and examine model data management plans and processes to create them. This is a requirement for a competitive proposal.

    5.) Evaluation and management of patients with brain and spinal metastasis

    July 10, 7:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Clinical and Translational Research Building, 505 South Hancock Street

    This one-day CME course will present a multidisciplinary approach needed for the care and treatment of patients with CNS Metastasis. The event will host 10 speakers providing lectures related to their specialties. MDs and DOs will receive 4.5 CME credits and RNs will receive 5.4 CEU credits.

    6.) Surplus warehouse to hold public auction

    The Surplus Warehouse, located at 1901 S. Floyd St., will hold a public auction on Saturday, July 11. The doors will open at 8 a.m. with the sale starting at 9:30 a.m. The warehouse will be open for preview on Friday, July 10, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The list of auction items is available on the Surplus website under “AUCTION LIST.”

    7.) Reminder: Digital Media Academy participants present a Smart Girl Showcase

    June 26, 1 to 2:30 p.m., Ekstrom Library, Chao Auditorium

    Join us this Friday for a showcase of digital media projects created by Louisville middle school girls who have spent two weeks “Designing Their Community” through image manipulation and video editing. Sponsored by the English Department and Liberal Studies, the Digital Media Academy will offer the technological means, and girls from JCPS schools will provide the creativity and curiosity to engage in solving problems they think are important for envisioning their communities.

    8.) Research participants needed

    Have you experienced financial hardship as a result of having cancer? Researchers at UofL’s Kent School of Social Work and School of Medicine are conducting a study about the impact of cancer treatment on the financial well-being and quality of life of cancer survivors. Participation involves completion of a brief questionnaire and an interview. To be eligible, you must be 18 years or older and have been diagnosed with cancer within the past three years. #15.0407
