    GE’s FirstBuild on UofL’s Belknap Campus recently released a “social appliance” named after our city: The Louisville Table. It was designed by Jakub Szczesny, artist-in-residence at FirstBuild, and the first three will be sold as limited-edition, signed art pieces at the Zephyr Gallery for $30,000. Read more here.

    Are you interested in the concept of fresh fruit and vegetable access to low income and at risk populations? If so, you are invited to participate and share your ideas concerning project Veggie Rx sponsored by Fresh Stop-New Roots Inc., a local food cooperative and the HSC Office of Diversity and Inclusion. Veggie Rx is a food outreach program connecting at risk populations with fresh food resources. To learn more, please join us Tuesday, March 24, 2015. A healthy lunch will be provided.

    4.) Learn about the women associated with Indiana’s historic sites

    March 26, 6 p.m., Carnegie Center for Art and History, 201 East Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana

    Free for UofL faculty, staff and students

    Kristina Kimmick, program developer a the Culbertson Mansion Historic Site, will discuss women associated with Indiana’s historic sites, including Frances Wright, Selma Steele, Lucy Stout and Gene Stratton-Porter. The Carnegie and the Culbertson are members of A&S’s Center for Arts and Culture Partnerships.

    5.) Encountering 20th Century Women in the Filson’s Special Collections

    March 25, 6 p.m., The Library at Oxmoor Farm, 720 Oxmoor Ave.

    Free for UofL faculty, staff and students

    Filson Historical Society Special Collections staff members Jennie Cole and Johna Picco will discuss the Filson’s extensive resources in 20th Century women’s history, including archival resources on Patty Smith Hill, Faith Pillow and Anne Bruce Haldeman. Reservations are suggested. The Filson is a member of A&S’s Center for Arts and Culture Partnerships.
