The University of Louisville Diabetes and Obesity Center is sponsoring a Pre-Diabetes Alert Day screening. We encourage everyone to take a quick (and anonymous) 1-minute test to find out if you are at risk for developing Type 2 Diabetes. March 22 is Diabetes Alert Day, and you can be part of the movement to stop diabetes. Take the Diabetes Risk Test to find out your risk for developing type 2 diabetes. Diabetes Risk Tests can be completed at the Get Healthy Now Wellness Center or online. Visit Get Healthy Now to receive a free blood glucose test kit and to learn more about type 2 diabetes and your health.

The Office of the Executive Vice President for Research and Innovation is sponsoring the annual Undergraduate Research Symposium. 14.) PLAN hosts workshop on effective applications for teaching online
March 24, 2 to 4 p.m., Room 105, Houchens Building
GTAs are often recruited to teach online, even without prior experience teaching or in the online environment. While many instructors simply put their face-to-face class into a Blackboard shell, there’s much more to effectively teaching online. This session introduces best practices in teaching online and shares how to implement those best practices through hands-on experience with various applications. Want to integrate themes of resiliency and ecological, social and economic stewardship into your courses? The Sustainability Council invites full/part-time faculty and GTA Academy members from all disciplines to apply for the 2016 Green Threads workshop on April 15. We’ll explore ways to embed sustainability in your curriculum. You’ll receive a $500 honorarium, course development resources, info on local sustainability issues, and an interdisciplinary network of colleagues.
