    During last weekend’s NCAA Women’s Swimming Championships, UofL Senior Kelsi Worrell broke the American, NCAA and U.S. Open record in the 100 butterfly. She also won the 200 butterfly, marking a two-year sweep of both events at NCAAs.

    1.) Research funding opportunity available

    Pilot project grants from Helmsley Restorative Medicine Center are available for seeding of novel research to facilitate additional funding, foster new collaborative partnerships and/or support junior faculty for future extramural grant funding. We anticipate funding three pilot projects.  Faculty leadership will review for consistency with the mission of the Helmsley Restorative Medicine Center and advisory board will review proposals for innovation and scientific merit.

    2.) Reminder: Deadline approaching to order caps and gowns

    The deadline for students and faculty to order caps and gowns for May 2016 commencement is Thursday, March 31 at midnight. Caps and gowns may be ordered by visiting the commencement website.

    3.) Give your workout a kick with Cardio Kick and Sculpt

    Fridays, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., Get Healthy Now Wellness Center at Humana Gym

    Free for GHN Wellness Center members

    Join GHN for an action-packed workout that improves strength, muscle tone, endurance, and will help you stick to your fitness goals. Class includes interval training exercises. All moves are modified based on fitness level.

    4.) Functional Fitness class focuses on core strength

    Free for GHN Wellness Center members

    This class focuses on core fitness that can translate into daily activities and incorporates all of the major muscle groups as well as the muscles you never knew you had. You will get efficient, quality, functional movements that will enhance and nourish your spine, revitalize your postural muscles, and strengthen your core with every movement. Exercises are shown at different skill levels so each person can work to their own individual competency.
