Important update to the May 2 notice concerning changes to Kentucky law regarding youth camps
This notice concerns the new regulatory requirement (902 KAR 10:040) concerning required clearance from the Kentucky Human Services Cabinet for youth camp staff and volunteers, described in the May 2 edition of UofL Today. Specifically, the new regulation requires that all youth camp staff and volunteers in Kentucky obtain a letter of clearance from the Cabinet stating that the individual in question has not been found to have abused or neglected a minor. The Cabinet has delayed implementation of the new regulation, originally set for July 1 until August 1 at the earliest, pending regulatory machinations in Frankfort. In addition, as some of you have learned, the cabinet has removed the request form from its website (accordingly, the link contained in the May 2 announcement no longer works). Share this information with any staff or faculty who may be involved in the operation of youth camps. No further information is available yet as to either a definitive effective date or a process for requesting the required clearance letters. We will continue to monitor and pass along any developments.

By choosing not to eat meat just one day a week, you can improve your health by reducing your risk of heart disease, diabetes, obesity and even cancer. In addition, you’ll help preserve our planet’s resources. To get a better idea of the environmental implications, read this article from Johns Hopkins Center for a Livable Future.
