    DID YOU KNOW?

    UofL’s School of Nursing manages the Kentucky Racing Health Services Center, which provides care to backside workers, including in-house mental health services. The clinic is directed by staff from the nursing school and students treat patients under supervision.

    1.) Pegasus Parade leads to Thursday street closings near HSC

    Traffic and parking around the Health Sciences Center will be affected by the Pegasus Thursday, May 5. Several streets will be closed, including Gray Street from Hancock Street to Preston Street, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Broadway from Floyd Street to Preston Street will be closed from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., and Preston Street from Gray Street to Broadway will be closed from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Parking will be prohibited all day on Gray Street from Hancock to Preston.

    2.) Oaks, Derby to force parking, traffic changes around Belknap Campus

    Traffic and parking on and around Belknap Campus will be affected by the Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby, May 6 and 7. Parking will not be allowed on Third Street or Floyd Street all day on Friday until 9 p.m. and Saturday until 11 p.m. No through traffic will be allowed from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. either day on Central Avenue from Taylor Boulevard to Floyd Street.  And from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. both days, all southbound traffic on Third Street will be rerouted onto Eastern Parkway.

    3.) Kornhauser Health Sciences Library offering finals study breaks

    Through May 5

    Kornhauser Health Sciences Library wants to help keep you full and focused as you prepare for this semester’s final exams. Join us on any day through Thursday, May 5, and you will receive free snacks while you study.

    4.) Passion to Purpose tour features panel and Q&A

    May 6, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Bigelow Hall; Free

    The Passion to Purpose tour focuses on the inner and outer aspects of fulfilling a purpose through entrepreneurship, life skills, and knowledge. Attendees will gain motivation from a lineup of trailblazing panelists in industries such as marketing, media, PR, law, life coaching, fashion and more.  The event will be panel style and provide Q & A sessions with participants.

    5.) Registration open for 2016 Faculty/Staff Open Walls exhibit

    Registration due June 1

    The annual show for faculty and staff is scheduled for June 13 to June 30 in the Photographic Archives gallery at Ekstrom Library. The exhibit is an opportunity for UofL employees who are not professional or exhibited artists to share their work. All media (i.e., painting, photography, woodworking, mixed media, fiber arts, jewelry, crafts) will be accepted. Click here for more information and registration form.
