4.) Registration open for 2016 Faculty/Staff Open Walls exhibit
Registration due June 1
The annual show for faculty and staff is scheduled for June 13 to June 30 in the Photographic Archives gallery at Ekstrom Library. The exhibit is an opportunity for UofL employees who are not professional or exhibited artists to share their work. All media (i.e., painting, photography, woodworking, mixed media, fiber arts, jewelry, crafts) will be accepted. Click here for more information and registration form.

6.) Lab Safety/Hazardous Waste & Radiation Safety Training scheduled

Recently hired lab employees who work with chemicals should attend the Lab Safety/Hazardous Waste session. Individuals who will begin working with or around radioactive materials should attend the Radiation Safety Orientation session which starts immediately after Lab Safety. 7.) Exercise Physiology Department seeking subjects for KY Space Consortium/NASA-sponsored study

The exercise physiology department is seeking participants for a resistive training study sponsored by the Kentucky space grant consortium and NASA. Participation will run for 10 weeks, and all participants will receive two full-body scans as compensation.

8.) Childhood Obesity in Children 10 to less than 14 year olds

The UofL Kosair Charities Pediatric Clinical Research Unit at Kosair Children’s Hospital is conducting a research study to evaluate the effect of an investigational product on childhood obesity. White and African American male and female subjects 10 to less than 14 years old who are overweight, obese or normal weight may be eligible. If a child qualifies to participate, he or she will receive the product or placebo and study related care at no cost. Compensation will be provided for time/travel.

9.) Autism study for children 4 to 10 years old

The UofL Kosair Charities Pediatric Clinical Research Unit at Kosair Children’s Hospital is conducting a clinical research study to evaluate how a medication treats abnormal EEG’s without seizures, as well as behavioral and neurological symptoms, in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). If a child qualifies to take part in this research study, he/she will receive the study medication or placebo and study-related care at no cost. Parents will be offered compensation for time/travel.
