DID YOU KNOW?
UofL owns the UofL Golf Club (formerly The Cardinal Club), and you don’t have to be a member to dine there. If you’re looking for a place to eat out on Thanksgiving Day, the Ville Restaurant & Lounge at ULGC is holding a traditional Thanksgiving dinner buffet. Items on the menu include ham, turkey, pork loin, country style green beans, cranberry stuffing and three kinds of desserts. Prices are $21.95 for adults, $8.95 for children 4 to 11 and kids under 3 eat free. Reservations: 852-2452. The ULGC is located at 401 Champions Way, Simpsonville.

3.) Last day to take UofL food survey and donate school supplies
Faculty, staff and students are needed to complete a simple survey about campus dining services. The survey should take less than 10 minutes to complete. In addition, this survey helps support local children in need. For every survey completed, $1 is donated toward school supplies which will be used at Gutermuth Elementary. The survey closes today.

$125 per person
Feast on Equality is a fundraiser benefitting the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Center at UofL. Cocktails will be served at 7 p.m. and dinner will begin at 8 p.m. Tickets are $125 per person and can be purchased online. Proceeds will go through the Feast on Equality Fund, a part of UofL’s Charting Our Course comprehensive campaign, to provide ongoing support for LGBT students at UofL.

The neuropsychology and aging lab of Dr. Benjamin Mast at the psychological and brain sciences department is investigating the association between musical training and cognition in adults aged 65 years and older. The UofL Center for Asian Democracy presents its final Asia in Focus talk of the Fall 2014 semester. Todd Munson, director of the Asian Studies Department at Randolph-Macon College, will give a talk on: Collecting the Orient: Images of Japan in Cigarette Cards, 1880s-1910s Cigarette cards – small, colorful collectibles that first appeared in cigarette packs in the late 19th century – are virtually unknown in academic circles.

14.) Hip-Hop scholar Mickey Hess to explore hip-hop in college classrooms

Mickey Hess, English professor at Rider University, takes the reader behind the scenes of a new biography of Ol’ Dirty Bastard, co-authored by Hess and Buddha Monk, to explore the translation of hip-hop into college classrooms. His talk is called “Writing the Dirty Version: Uncensored Story of Professors and Rappers. Hess discusses his experiences developing, co-writing and publishing the book and tackles the question of who will tell hip-hop’s story and what will get lost in translation. Presented by Honors Student Council and Commonwealth Center for the Humanities and Society.
