3.) School of Medicine extramural grant reception to be held

4.) Applications available for 14th annual Study Abroad Program in Panama
The 14th Annual Study Abroad Program in Panama, sponsored by the Latin American and Latino Studies Program and the Department of Communication, will take place May 3-28, 2016. Students will earn 6 credit hours and participate in many program-sponsored excursions, including visits to the Panama Canal, the Presidential Palace, and the Parque Metropolitano Rainforest. The application deadline is Dec. 1.

Medicine Grand Rounds proudly presents the 2015 David H. Neustadt Lecture featuring Bevra H. Hahn, MD, professor of medicine emerita, former chief, Division of Rheumatology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Dr. Hahn will present Update on Systemic Lupus Erythematosus 2015: Pathogenesis, Diagnosis and Treatment focusing on the most recent criteria for classification of SLE, disease progression and stabilization with new therapies, and new approaches currently under study.

10.) Psychiatry: “An Objective Review of Benzodiazepines: Pros and Cons”

Colleen Ryan, MD, will present An Objective Review of Benzodiazepines:Pros and Cons. Dr. Ryan is an assistant professor with the psychiatry department. Participants should be able to explain GABA receptor structure and function and how benzodiazepines interact with the GABA receptors, integrate new clinical data to make objective decisions about appropriateness of benzodiazepines in various clinical situations, and integrate new findings by the end of the session.
