    1.) ‘Freedom Days’ opens today

    Nov. 19 to Nov. 23, 8 p.m. nightly, 3 p.m. matinee Nov. 23; Thrust Theatre, 2314 South Floyd St.

    Adults: $15; UofL employees/alumni/students: $12

    “Freedom Days,” by Steve Friedman with prologue, epilogue, and direction by Professor Russ Vandenbroucke, dramatizes a series of events that marked (and marred) the civil rights movement 50 years ago. Vivid moments of this historic period of struggle, loss and triumph are being staged with civil rights and freedom songs directed by Ron Jones. Watch a short video here.

    2.) Vote for UofL theatre professor

    Daniel R. Hill, assistant professor of theatre, has been nominated for a BroadwayWorld.com regional award for Best Actor in a Play. Hill is nominated for his role as Flute in the 2014  Kentucky Shakespeare production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” The BroadwayWorld.com awards recognize professional actors from regions around America. The public is invited to vote for the winners here. To vote for Hill, click on the “Best Actor in a Play (regional/national/touring)” category. Voting takes place until Dec. 31.

    3.) See the NCAA Men’s Soccer tournament match vs. St. Louis/Tulsa winner

    $12 for reserved seats and $8 general admission

    Come out to Lynn Stadium and cheer on the Cards this Sunday in a second round match in the 2014 NCAA Men’s Soccer Tournament. Stadium gates open at 5:30 p.m. Free parking at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium.

    4) UofL faculty and staff discount offered for MBB at the KFC Yum! Center

    UofL is offering faculty and staff $15/300-level seats (reg. price $41) for the following men’s basketball games: Friday, Nov. 21 vs. Marshall 7 p.m.; Monday, Nov. 24 vs Savannah State 7 p.m.; Wednesday, Nov. 26 vs Cleveland State 7 p.m.; Friday, Dec. 5 vs Florida International 7 p.m.; Sunday, Dec. 14 vs UNC Wilmington 7 p.m.

    6.) Movement supporting farm animal rights to be on Belknap Campus

    A national nonprofit raising awareness about animal treatment in the food production system will be on campus with a special video outreach vehicle parked on the Humanities Quad on Wednesday through Friday. Brought to you by the UofL Sustainability Council and EcoReps.

    Medicine Grand Rounds features Ruth Ann Vleugels, MD, assistant professor of dermatology, Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Dr. Vleugels will present Clinical Pearls for Diagnosis and Management of Cutaneous Autoimmune Diseases, focusing on cutaneous exam for diagnosing systemic disease, skin findings in autoimmune connective tissue diseases and therapies for autoimmune diseases impacting the skin.
