3.) Class offered for non-native English speakers to become more effective communicators

The IESL program is offering an evening class in the Spring 2015 semester on Mondays from 7:00 p.m. to 9:45 p.m., beginning January 12. The class is designed to help non-native speakers of English (high-intermediate to advanced proficiency) become more effective communicators in academic, professional and social situations. Class instruction focuses on conversational fluency and strategies for professional interactions.

Dr. Mona Shirpour, assistant professor of materials engineering at University of Kentucky, will discuss Sodium-Ion Batteries: Beyond Lithium-Ion. Shirpour earned her PhD at the Max Planck Institute in Germany, and performed postdoctoral work on energy storage materials at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. The seminar is co-sponsored by the Conn Center for Renewable Energy.
