The UofL team of Blair Cade, Gerard Buono, Jake Gross, Csaba Biro and Matt Bergman won the Urban Bourbon Half Marathon-Sam Swope Fiat Corporate Challenge on Saturday. The team beat out eight competitors with a total time of 4:38:33.45; Frost Brown Todd came in second at 5:01:15.36. A celebration and trophy presentation will be held at noon Friday at the GHN Wellness Center at Humana Gym.

1.) Benefits fair on Belknap today
Oct. 29, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Today is the last day to meet with a benefits vendor and your benefits team during this year’s Open Enrollment. If you still have questions, they have answers. Representatives will be on Belknap Campus in the Human Resources office, 1980 Arthur St., today to answer questions and help you navigate through the Open Enrollment process. The choices you make now will determine your benefits in 2015. Open Enrollment ends Friday, Oct. 31, at midnight. Go to the Open Enrollment website for information and to make your elections.

2.) Halloween Spooktacular to be held Friday

Join the University Symphony Orchestra for a spellbinding night of music at the annual Halloween Spooktacular. The concert features a mix of classics and modern music. The program includes spooky orchestral pieces by Hector Berlioz and Alexander Borodin alongside chilling arrangements from the soundtracks of “Psycho,” “Ghostbusters” and “Pirates of the Caribbean.”

UofL English professor Aaron Jaffe studied the issue and co-wrote The Year’s Work at the Zombie Research Center, a book exploring the reasons. He and his colleague will discuss their work.

The service that provides temporary accounts for guests on the university’s wireless network ulopen has been replaced by ulsponsor. The new service will provide a web-based portal to create and maintain authenticated accounts for sponsored guests of the university. The ulsponsor portal gives faculty/staff a full range of control including creation, duration, reactivation and closing of accounts.
