Students, faculty and staff can stop in front of the bookstore in the Student Activities Center to pick up a Yellow Ribbon Post Card and write a message on it every day through Nov. 11 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cards will be displayed in the SAC Multipurpose Room.
On Nov. 11, UofL will take part in the National Roll Call. Members of the campus community will read the names of every soldier killed in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom now called Operation New Dawn, starting at 6:30 a.m. on the steps of Ekstrom Library. At 2 p.m., the roll call will end or pause for observation of a national minute of silence. UofL is one of at least 178 schools that plan to participate in the roll call. UofL also will honor its faculty, staff, students and administrators who have served or are serving in the military with a free lunch at the Ville Grill, courtesy of the president’s office and Sodexo. These veterans or current military personnel can pick up free lunch vouchers at the Office of Military and Veteran Student Services in the Houchens Building between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Athletics plans to honor veterans at the UofL-Pittsburgh football game on Nov. 12. Soldiers from Fort Knox will be among groups receiving tickets to the game.
