“Continuing the Legacy” aims to highlight the accomplishments of the African Americans who have made a positive impact at UofL and in the community.
Here are the 2012 recipients:
Bridging the Gap Award (individual), given to an individual who has worked endlessly to bridge the gap between minority groups and the community at large.
Recipient: Kurtis Frizzell, president, Student Government Association
Bridging the Gap Award (organization), given to an organization or department that has worked endlessly to bridge the gap between minority groups and the community at large
Recipient: PEACC (Prevention, Education and Advocacy on Campus and in the Community)
Entrepreneurship Award,given to a business owner who not only exemplifies outstanding performance but also gives back to the local and university community.
Recipient: Charla Young, president and chief executive officer, Power to Change Communications
Future Leader Award, given to a student on campus who has exemplified great leadership skills
Recipient: Osiah Graham, Harlan Scholar from Louisville
Humanitarian Award, given to a person who is dedicated to improving the welfare of people in the local community. This award also recognizes a person who has had a positive impact on the local and university communities.
Recipient: Kevin Cosby, UofL Board of Trustees member; president, Simmons College; pastor, St. Stephens Church
Lifetime Achievement Award, given to someone who has worked endlessly to have a positive influence on the African American community, the university, the city and the world.
Recipient: Blaine Hudson, dean, College of Arts & Sciences
