Representatives from business, government and education will join industry professionals to discuss those questions and more at a one-day conference, The Construction Industry Poised in the New Millenium, July 22 at the University of Louisville’s ShelbyHurst Business and Research Park.
The conference is free and open to the public, but advance registration is required.
Sessions will all take place in the Founders Union building. They are:
- Administrative Order: Establishing Business Certification Program for Women and Minorities, 8:30 a.m.-9:15 a.m., led by Lori Hudson Flanery, secretary of the Kentucky Finance and Administration Cabinet
- Current Legal Issues in the Construction Industry, 9:25 a.m.-10:15 a.m., led by attorney Gerald Stovall
- Panel of an Owner, General Contractor and Architect: Myths, Realities and Challenges, 10:15 a.m.-11:10 a.m., led by Ken Dietz of UofL Planning, Design and Construction, Andy Mays of Whittenberg Construction and Brad Stengel of architect Stengel Hill
- Pressing Labor Force Issues of the Construction Industry, 11:20 a.m -noon, led by Janet Kelly, UofL urban affairs professor who directs the Kentucky Data Center
- Safety and the Construction Worksite, noon-1 p.m., led by William Carey of the Kentucky Occupational Safety and Health agency
Lunch will be served after the last session and construction users and providers will display exhibits until 2 p.m.
