The opera is one of the 20th century’s most important and emotionally challenging works, said Michael Ramach, opera theatre co-director.
“The French Revolution felled giants and left lesser people behind,” Ramach said. “The final scene stands alone and apart as one of the most powerful moments in all musical theater.
“We have an outstanding cast for the production,” he said. “The focus is on the singing and acting and Claire Divizio, who will play Blanche, is a semi-finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council auditions. Patrick MacDevitt, who plays Chevalier, has been featured as a young artist in Kentucky Opera productions.”
