Tickets are $100 per person and can be purchased online. The Nov. 22 event will be at the Kentucky Center for African American Heritage, 1701 W. Muhammad Ali Blvd. Cocktails will be served at 7 p.m. and dinner will begin at 8 p.m.

Proceeds will go through the Feast on Equality Fund, a part of UofL’s Charting Our Course comprehensive campaign, to provide ongoing support for LGBT students at UofL. Fund money will support the LGBT Center’s daily operation, students coming out of or into a crisis, training for faculty and staff, and student participation in national conferences.

“The Feast on Equality is an opportunity for the community to support the work of our center,” said Brian Buford, LGBT Center director. “When people hear about the challenges that many LGBT students face—like bullying, isolation and family rejection—they want to help. I’m still floating from last year’s Feast on Equality, because I have seen what a dramatic difference it made in the lives of LGBT students.”

The 2013 Feast on Equality program will include a brief presentation and remarks about the LGBT Center. Dawne Gee and Brian Goode of WAVE 3 will emcee. Event sponsors so far are Brown-Forman, PNC, Humana, YUM! Brands, KBD Strategic Design Consultants, Aspire Real Estate Group and Chiropractic Louisville.

The 2012 sold-out Feast on Equality raised $86,000. Friends of the center organized the event to help students who had lost their support systems after coming out. Last year’s proceeds funded the LGBT Center’s daily operation, support groups, scholarships for an LGBT-themed study abroad trip to Greece and events like Pride Week.
