UofL President James Ramsey with Nathan Meyer, principal of Fern Creek High School

President James R. Ramsey’s legacy will live on at his former high school after Fern Creek High School recently named a classroom in his honor.

Fern Creek High School Principal Dr. Nathan Meyer dedicated the James R. Ramsey Room at Fern Creek High School Friday, Nov. 6. Fern Creek alumni, faculty, staff and students celebrated Ramsey at the ceremony and thanked him for being a proud representative of his alma mater.

“Jim has represented the Creek well,” said the Rev. Mike Gatton, a fellow alumnus and alumni association representative. “It’s not so much today that you’re a part of the Creek, but that the Creek is part of you.”

During the ceremony, Dr. Ramsey and Director of Admissions Jenny Sawyer surprised several students with admissions letters to attend UofL. Dr. Ramsey told the students present that there’s more to an education than what takes place in a school, but the classroom is where it all starts. As an educator, that’s what makes a classroom named in his honor so special.

“I can’t express how much this means to me,” Dr. Ramsey said.
