Finding Nemo, one of the most popular children’s movies of all time, was the top choice of voters in the poll for the Aug. 13 movie. It received 38 percent of the vote, surpassing Monsters Inc (33 percent), Happy Feet (16 percent) and A Bug’s Life (13 percent).
The event is free and takes place on the lawn by the Natural Science Building. Families are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets, picnic baskets and coolers. Activities will begin at 7 p.m.; the movie will begin at about 9 p.m.
Finding Nemo tells the story of overly protective clownfish Marlin who, along with a memory-challenged regal tang called Dory, searches for his son, Nemo, who has been captured by a scuba diver and relocated to a fish tank in a dentist’s office. During their search, Marlin and Dory run into dangerous jelly fish, vegetarian sharks, a surfer dude turtle and other characters. Meanwhile, Nemo plots with his fellow captives to escape from the fish tank and return to the sea.
Cards under the Stars also will include inflatable rides, bubbles, contests and other activities for children and families. Sodexo will offer hamburgers, hot dogs, popcorn and other items for sale.
