Alcoff’s free, public talk will begin at 4:30 p.m. in Room 300, Bingham Humanities Building.
She is expected to discuss the projection that white people in the United States will lose majority status by 2050 and that many white people live in cities and states where already they are a minority. Alcoff will talk about how white people are reacting to the impending changes of a multicultural society and how this affects their political consciousness and understanding.
Alcoff is a philosophy professor at Hunter College of the City University of New York and author of several books including “Visible Identities: Race, Gender and the Self” and a forthcoming publication about the future of white people in a multicultural society.
