UofL’s English and classical and modern languages departments sponsor the Belknap Campus event. Keynote addresses listed below are free and public; those speakers are:

–Laura Mullen, Louisiana State University’s McElveen professor of English and author of seven poetry books. She will read from her poetry at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 20 in Chao Auditorium, Ekstrom Library.

–Lauren Berlant, University of Chicago English professor and author of several books about national sentiment and sentimentality in American culture. Her talk, “On Being In Life Without Wanting the World (Living with Ellipsis),” will begin at 5 p.m. Feb. 20 in Room 275, Brandeis School of Law.

–Geetha Iyer, Iowa State University creative writing graduate student and winner of UofL’s 2013 Calvino Prize. She will read from her prize-winning short story, “The Mongerji Letters,” at 11 a.m. Feb. 21 in Bingham Poetry Room, Ekstrom Library.

–Mariana Bernardez, Mexico City-based literary critic and author of 13 books of poetry. She will give her keynote talk in Spanish about “Estuaries: Poetic Tension” at 3:15 p.m. Feb. 21 in Chao Auditorium, Ekstrom Library.

–Colson Whitehead, author of five novels and two nonfiction books including a forthcoming one about the 2011 World Series of Poker, in which he participated. He will read from his work at 5 p.m. Feb. 21 in Room 102, Strickler Hall.
