The Women’s Center also will present three awards at the luncheon: The Tachau Gender Equity Award, named after UofL’s first female history department chair; the Dr. M. Celeste Nichols Award for UofL graduate and/or professional school students, named after the first African-American to receive a doctorate from UofL’s English department; and the annual Women’s Empowerment Award.
