He, along with Appriss CEO Michael Davis, received the award Oct. 15 during the Landmarks of Excellence Awards, an annual event that celebrates exceptional communications and is hosted by local chapters of the Public Relations Society of America and International Association of Business Communicators.
A news release about the awards indicated that Ramsey “was selected specifically for his work at the University of Louisville and the significant impact it has had upon UofL’s programs, academic offerings, and investment in the Kentuckiana region and across the Commonwealth.”
In a nomination letter, PNC Bank Regional President and UofL alumnus Chuck Denny wrote that Ramsey’s work to transform the university and community has raised the profile of the university. Denny wrote: “His ability to communicate these achievements both here at home and around the country … have truly made UofL such a stand-out in public higher education.
Several of Ramsey’s accomplishments were cited during the awards ceremony including higher academic standards and outcomes, a big jump in the graduation rate and innovative programs that have boosted regional economic development.
The Communicator of the Year award goes to people who are not communications professionals by trade, but have demonstrated the power of the craft by making a positive impact on the community or illuminating an important issue.
