The event will run from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Ekstrom Library’s Chao Auditorium. The College of Arts and Sciences’ office for international, diversity and outreach programs is offering the event in conjunction with the Louisville Race and Relations Conference this month.
Bayé teaches the course “Women in the Civil Rights Movement” as an adjunct professor at Bellarmine University. She was a reporter, editor and columnist for The Courier-Journal from 1984 to 2011 and was a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University in 1990–91. The National Association of Black Journalists inducted her into its Hall of Fame this month; she has served as longtime member and former national, regional and local officer of the association.
Bayé has written the novel “The Africans” and “Blackbird,” a collection of her Courier-Journal columns. She contributes biweekly commentaries on the WLOU radio program “Saturday Morning Solutions.”
