Following a presentation in which Ramsey noted that he and his leadership team had achieved 20 of 23 goals set by the board in 2014-15, the committee voted unanimously to recommend that Ramsey receive a 6% merit increase. The committee also voted that the trustees should recommend to the UofL Foundation a one-time supplement equal to 25 percent of his base salary to reward him for his efforts.
Both recommendations will be presented to the full Board of Trustees at its annual retreat Friday in Prestonsburg.
Ramsey noted that his leadership team had accomplished 16 of 19 goals, including increasing the number of graduates, graduates with STEM degrees, and masters and doctoral graduates. He also was credited with boosting student retention rates and achieving substantial gains in philanthropy and in sponsored research for clinical trials.
Ramsey also accomplished all four personal goals set by the board, including successfully entering the ACC, beginning construction on the Belknap Research Park, implementing a plan to develop the Floyd Street corridor, and planning revenue strategies to increase funding for centers of academic excellence. The trustees noted that more than $6.3 million in income from the creation of TIF districts in and around the university had helped fund salary increases for faculty and staff.
Trustee Bob Benson praised the president and said the university is “lucky to have him.”
