Professional development and athletics were among the agenda items for the University of Louisville Board of Trustees Sept. 21, 2023, committee meetings.
The Finance and Budget Committee approved measures to renovate the Planet Fitness Kueber Center as well as the Jim Patterson Baseball Stadium.
Approved for costs not to exceed $7 million in renovations to the Planet Fitness Kueber Center include construction and renovation of locker rooms and training rooms as well as meeting spaces for the women’s and men’s basketball teams and women’s lacrosse team. Athletics currently has $5 million committed to the project and is seeking the additional $2 million from donors.
Approved for costs not to exceed $3 million in renovations to the Jim Patterson Baseball Stadium include renovations to the locker room, training room, workout areas, dugouts and facility aesthetics. The cost of the project is included in the state’s six-year capital budget.
Following approval from the Sept. 6, 2023, Faculty Senate meeting, three graduate certificate programs were approved by the Academic and Student Affairs Committee.
The graduate certificates in Healthcare Financial Management, Healthcare Management, Healthcare Quality and Project Management and Population Health Management are all composed of existing core classes in the Master of Science in Health Administration program (part of the School of Public Health and Information Sciences Department of Health Management and Systems Sciences). They will serve students who are already working in the health sector but want to enhance their skills to assume leadership and management roles within health care organizations. The certificate programs will be effective spring 2024.
