But on Jan 11, she earned a different type of title: Miss Kentucky USA. She took the crown in the competition, besting 16 other contestants.
George, 21, told The Courier-Journal newspaper that entering a beauty pageant was something she had never considered until recently. She told a reporter, I never thought I’d be a beauty queen or in a pageant wearing a crown. This is crazy.”
A native of Louisville, George is majoring in communications, College of Arts and Sciences, and minoring in sport administration, College of Education and Human Development.
As a student athlete, George was part of the USA National Collegiate Team that won a silver medal at the European Global Challenge Tournament in Croatia and was named to the American Athletic Conference’s First Team. As a setter for the Cardinal’s women’s volleyball team, she lead the team with 721 assists and was third with 217 digs.
A graduate of Assumption High School, George is the daughter of Tim and Annie George.
She will compete in the Miss USA pageant in September.
