The planetarium will unveil Dynamic Earth, Exploring Earth’s Climate Engine, at 3 p.m. Sept. 6. The 24-minute documentary explores the inner workings of Earth’s climate using visualizations based on satellite images. Actor Liam Neeson is the narrator.
“Seeing this film on our 55-foot planetarium dome is really incredible,” said planetarium director and College of Education and Human Development professor Thomas Tretter. “Viewers will get an immersive experience as they learn how climate is the catalyst for life on Earth.”
The documentary will become part of the planetarium’s regular public show offerings. See www.louisville.edu/planetarium/events/public-shows for the full schedule. Admission is $8 for adults; $6 for UofL affiliates, children age 12 and under and seniors age 65 and over.
The planetarium also will mark International Observe the Moon Night Sept. 6 with a free, public program that begins at 7:30 p.m. in the dome followed by a viewing of our closest planetary neighbor through telescopes at 8:30 p.m. in the courtyard. If weather prevents outdoor viewing, a program will be held inside. Observe the Moon Night is offered in collaboration with the Louisville Astronomical Society.
