Auditions will be Nov. 10 and 11, 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Thrust Theatre, 2314 S. Floyd St. Producers are seeking African American performers for these roles:
- Delia, female, about age 25, social worker
- Guy, male, about age 30, artist, homosexual
- Sam, male, about age 40, obstetrician
Actors and actresses should come prepared to read from a script with a scene partner. They also are welcome to present a monologue for any of the characters to be portrayed. The script is available for review in the Theatre Department’s office between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. at 2314 S. Floyd Street. Specific scenes will be available by Nov. 7.
“Blues for an Alabama Sky” portrays the lives of struggling African American musicians, artists and social activists living in Harlem during the era of the Harlem Renaissance and the Depression.
Nefertiti Burton, associate professor of theatre, is directing the play. It is a production of the African American Theatre Program and will be presented Feb. 1-5 at Thrust Theatre.
