The University and the American Heart Association have been working together for many years to see a reduction in the impact of cardiovascular diseases and stroke through research and public education.
The 2018 AHA Heart Walk, scheduled for Sept. 22, provides an opportunity for UofL and many other organizations in Metro Louisville to rally behind the AHA mission: Building Healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
UofL Deans Toni Ganzel (School of Medicine) and Gerard Bradley (School of Dentistry) will co-host a team captain’s kick-off breakfast for Health Sciences Center faculty and staff on Wednesday, Aug. 8, 8 to 9 a.m. in the Abell Administration Center, Room 109/110. Those interested in attending are asked to RSVP via email.
The following morning, Thursday, Aug. 9, Deans Ann Larson (CEHD) and David Jenkins (Kent School) will co-host a team captain’s kick-off breakfast for Belknap faculty and staff at the Vogt Building, Room 314. Belknap faculty and staff can also RSVP via email.
Team captains will have an opportunity to participate in a drawing at the kick-off events to win a Coach Bobby Petrino autographed football. Additional incentives will be announced throughout the campaign.
The University is currently the recipient of more than $1.3 million in research grants from the AHA. This vital work could mean that the next breakthrough in this field could happen here at the University of Louisville. A fundraising goal of $75,000 has been established.
