UofL will host the “College Women’s Leadership Conference – Creating Synergy in Kentucky” at Ekstrom Library, Belknap Campus. The conference is open to any female college undergraduate and graduate student in Kentucky. Conference registration is $55 and includes overnight accommodations.

The conference aims to supplement academic knowledge by having Kentucky women leaders teach the students real world applications for how to succeed. Students will learn about networking and establishing a personal brand, among other skills.

“I want this conference to not only give young women the right guidance and proper skills to succeed, but I want it to create a ‘fire’ in the hearts of the young women of Kentucky,” said Ashley Wimsett, president of UofL’s Women 4 Women student group. “The generation before us created a path for success; I want our generation to light up this path with a great intensity to succeed, continuing to make the state of Kentucky not only an exceptional state, but an exceptional state with prominent women leaders.

Keynote speakers include former Kentucky State Auditor Crit Luallen; Marta Maria Miranda, chief executive officer, Louisville Center for Women and Families; Charla Young, president and chief executive officer, Power to Change Communications; and Phoebe Wood, a principal in Companies Wood, a consulting firm specializing in early stage investments, and former vice chair and chief financial officer of Brown-Forman Corp.

UofL’s Women 4 Women Student Group, UofL Women’s Center and the Office of Civic Engagement and Leadership are conference organizers. The presenting sponsor is Companies Wood.
