LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The 11th annual Kentucky Women’s Book Festival will feature authors from a wide variety of genres March 4 on University of Louisville’s Belknap Campus.
The festival’s opening speaker is Kim Michele Richardson, author of the bestselling memoir “The Unbreakable Child” and the novel “GodPretty in the Tobacco Field.”
Ronni Lundy, journalist and food writer, will present the luncheon keynote about her most recent travelogue cookbook, “Victuals: An Appalachian Journey, with Recipes.”
Mixologist Joy Perrine and food writer Susan Reigler will discuss their latest collaboration “More Kentucky Bourbon Cocktails.” Afterward, festival goers will sample drinks and dishes from the book in a 4 p.m. closing reception at the University Club.
Other participants include:
- Gwenda Bond, young adult and children’s fiction writer;
- Kathleen Driskell, poet and associate program director of Spalding University’s Master of Fine Arts in Writing Program;
- Tajuana “TJ” Butler-Jackson, fiction writer, poet and UofL graduate;
- Nana Lampton, businesswoman, artist and poet;
- Marie Bradby, freelance journalist and children’s book author;
- Annette Cable, illustrator of 17 children’s picture books; and
- Pat Owen, attorney and poet.
Festival sessions and presentations are free, except for an optional $10 lunch, but attendees are asked to register here. The festival begins at 9:30 a.m. with coffee and conversation and the opening session begins at 10 a.m. in the Chao Auditorium of Ekstrom Library. The Women’s Center and University Libraries host the event, which is part of the university’s observance of Women’s History Month.
