LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A free, public conference March 5 will focus on helping young people, their parents and others learn about issues such as healthy relationships, diversity’s value, safe social-media use, domestic violence and parent-child communication.
The University of Louisville’s Kent School of Social Work is sponsoring the “Building Healthy Relationships Together” event with Foster Traditional Academy.
The Saturday morning sessions are open to all and geared to young people and adults such as educators, counselors and parents interested in their healthy development.
The conference will run from 9 a.m. to noon at Foster Traditional Academy, 1401 S. 41st St. There is no registration, and lunch is provided afterward.
Speakers and topics will include Armon Perry, Kent School of Social Work, fatherhood; Herlon Robinson, Passport Health Plan, engaging youth through effective communication; Rudy Garcia, Hardin County Schools, appropriate relationships; and Al Cornish, Norton Healthcare, youth communication with caregivers. Other local leaders will talk about issues including bullying and wise navigation of online communication.
